Strategies to Outsmart Phone Scammers

 Smartphone users are increasingly vulnerable to phone scams. Cybercriminals have become adept at using automated calls and text messages to trick people into sharing personal information and money. It is important for smartphone users to be aware of the ways they can outsmart phone scammers.

The first step in avoiding a phone scam is to never give out personal information when responding to an unsolicited call or text message. If someone calls claiming to be from a bank, utility company, or government agency asking for sensitive information such as a Social Security number or bank account number, hang up immediately. A legitimate organization will never ask for this type of sensitive data over the phone.

Another way smartphone users can protect themselves from scammers is by being wary of any offers that seem too good to be true, such as free vacations or money-making opportunities.
